General description and relevant information | This course is an introduction to environmental management for organisations. It presents the requirements and the steps for implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS) in an organisation. An EMS is a tool for companies and other organisations to improve their environmental performance whilst saving energy and other resources. There are two models for implementing an EMS: ISO 14001 or EMAS, both are presented in this course. One of the most critical elements for a successful implementation of an EMS is to develop a good procedure for identifying and assessing the environmental aspects, this task will be done as a practical exercise in the course. | |||||||||||||||||
