General description and relevant information | This module will focus on the Literature of the Victorian Age and the Early 20th century. The first part will deal with some ideological issues concerning imperialism, class, gender, race and science in the 19th century. The aim is to learn how a literary text is constructed through these various ideologies, how it might have been read in its time and how it can be read today. The second part will explore the new ways of viewing and interacting with the world as a reaction against Victorian culture and aesthetics. | |||||||||||||||||
