In the CA Tests, students must achieve at least a '3.0' (out of 10) in each test in order to pass the course on the basis of CA. In other words, a student who has less than a '3.0' in one of the CA tests will be obliged to take the complete Final Exam.

Students must average a 5 or over for the CA work of each semester in order to pass the course on the basis of CA. While the course mark from CA will be taken as an average of the two halves of the course, each half of the course must be passed separately for that overall average to be applicable. Where one part of the course is failed, the student must take the Final Exam.

If you do not attend classes regularly and consequently do not complete the Continuous Assessment programme satisfactorily, you will have to take the final exam. The final exam will consist of text commentaries, based on the set texts of the course 50%, and short questions to test your background knowledge of English literary history and the theory related to studies in this field 50%.

In cases of results which are borderline, regular attendance (80%+) may be taken into consideration, at the tutors discretion.
