Students will become aware of essential concepts of language change and Historical Linguistics in general, as well as being apply to recognise their application to the case of the English language.	A1 A2 A4 A6 A14
The course will require students to read sometimes complex texts, so will need a thorough and intelligent use of all linguistic and critical skills acquired until this point of the degree course. Intelligent use of primary and secondary sources, correct formulation of written and spoken commentaries are an essential component, as are individual and group work.
