The objectives of this course are: To understand that critical theory will help us to recognise and analyse the power structures at work in the construction of gender, identity, nationalism and processes of symbolic interpretation. To understand that language is central to the construction and deconstruction of meaning. To understand that bodies and the spaces they inhabit are not "given" but are socially constructed.
