| THEORY: 15 hours will be devoted to theoretical sessions. Below is the list of topics dedicated to theoretical explanations governing the English language studied during the course: | • compound nouns • simple/continuous verb forms • past simple/present perfect simple • the definite article • asking questions, tag questions • the passive • referring to the future • two-part verbs • infinitive or gerund • types of adjectives, order of adjectives • conjunctions • conditionals • relative clauses • possibility and certainty Each of these topics will be discussed in the context of 9 units taken from EVERYDAY TECHNICAL ENGLISH (2003) by Lambert and Murray. |
| PRACTICE: 35 hours will be devoted to practise technical English for the world of engineering. | PRACTICE: 35 hours will be devoted to practise technical English for the world of engineering on the basis of exercises borrowed mainly from Lambert and Murray’s EVERYDAY TECHNICAL ENGLISH as well as INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (2003) by Demetriades. Moreover, students will be confronted with a variety of authentic texts taken from SPECTRUM magazine. |
