General description and relevant information

General Information

Sustainability and climate change are two global challenges that must necessarily be addressed jointly in order to comply with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The current climate emergency amplifies social, economic and environmental problems, having a special impact on human and natural systems, especially those most vulnerable.

For this reason, it is an objective of the URV that future professionals are trained taking into account these complex challenges and are prepared, in their various disciplines, to adapt their learning to a context as disruptive as that of a syndemic world.

From an interdisciplinary and transversal perspective, this subject provides theoretical and practical learning, which includes environmental, economic, geographical, physical, chemical, legal, anthropological and health aspects, all of this to give a vision as broad as possible to be able to understand the sustainability and climate change.

This optional subject is part of the Minor in Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development Goals, a complementary qualification that can be carried out together with this subject.

This additional transversal training complements the core curricular contents of the bachelor's or master's degree studies, it will appear in the academic curriculum and may be accredited for job placement. With this new academic proposal, which provides an additional title to the degree or master's degree, URV students will have a specific preparation to meet the demands of a changing society and to be sensitive and active in terms of sustainability and the environment, to social problems, gender issues, and well-being and health. In addition, the minor's subjects provide training in so-called "social skills" or soft skills, which work and enhance social and emotional intelligences so that you learn to move in changing environments with flexibility, a positive attitude, empathy, a critical and committed attitude, focusing in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The minor in Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development Goals is offered online and in particular this subject will be taught module II entirely online and module I in hybrid format.

The Minor itinerary is made up of four subjects: Culture of Well-being: Health and Quality of Life, Sustainability and Climate Change, Tools for Entrepreneurship, Gender, Science and Social Change. The four subjects add up to 24 credits, although some can be recognized by other similar ones that have already been taken.

The Minor is a transversal training based on social skills, such as social entrepreneurship, which provides you with the ability to formulate innovative solutions in social and environmental fields. For this reason, the itinerary is aimed at students interested in training in changing attitudes and values in today's society and who want to acquire tools for social transformation.
