Atès que una superfície constitueix un cap abrupte del material, les propietats físiques i químiques difereixen d'aquelles que podem trobar en el material volúmico, conferint propietats característiques que poden ser d'interès i que poden complementar les del material volúmico. |
3. Mètodes de preparació de superfícies. Creixement epitaxial. Deposició de capes primes policristal · lines. |
Moltes propietats físiques dels materials depenen de la seva anisotropia, que al seu torn pot dependre de manera molt sensible de la composició, morfologia i estructura cristal · lina de les capes primes. El creixement epitaxial és una potentíssima eina que ens permet controlar aquests paràmetres d'una forma molt eficient. També d's'estudiaran altres metodologies que permeten la deposició de capes primes policristal · lines com són la esputerización catòdica. |
4. Mètodes de caracterització de superfícies i interfícies. Caracterització morfològica. Caracterització física (mecànica, elèctrica i òptica). Caracterització química. |
En aquest punt de l'assignatura es farà especialment èmfasi en aquelles tècniques específiques de la caracterització de superfícies, com ara la microscòpia confocal i interferomètrica per a l'estudi de superfícies i interfícies en el cas de materials transparents. Pel que fa a la caracterització de les propietats físiques d'aquestes superfícies, s'introduiran les tècniques que ens permeten determinar les seves propietats mecàniques com les tècniques de nanoindentació, les seves propietats elèctriques com les tècniques de Van der Pauw, o els mètodes de dos i quatre puntes. Per a la determinació de propietats òptiques es posarà èmfasi en tècniques com la determinació d'índexs de refracció i guies d'ona mitjançant el acomplamiento de llum mitjançant prisma, o les propietats luminiscents d'aquestes superfícies. Finalment, per a la caracterització química s'estudiaran tècniques com l'espectroscòpia dispersiva d'energia (EDAX), la microanàlisi per sonda electrònica (EPMA), o la dispersió Raman, entre d'altres. |
5. Nanoestructuración de superficies. Interés de la nanoestructuración. Técnicas de nanoestructuración superficial (Reactive Ion Etching, ion milling, Focused Ion Beam, e-beam lithography, etc.). Efectos de la nanoestructuración. Técnicas de observación y medida. |
En este tema se tratará como abordar la estructuración y más específicamente la nanoestructuración de una superficie mediante técnicas de ataque químico en medios húmedos y secos, proporcionando una introducción a las diferentes técnicas que permiten desarrollar esta estructuración. Se analizará también cómo esta nanoestructuración de la superficie influye tanto en sus propiedades físicas como químicas
Muchos materiales de importancia tecnológica encuentran aplicaciones en forma de películas delgadas. El objetivo del curso es dotar de una visión general del concepto fundamental de superficie y de interfície en materiales y cómo podemos aprovechar estos aspectos para desarrollar materiales nanoestructurados de forma controlada, y como podemos modificar sus propiedades físicas, químicas e ingenieriles.
