Learning aims
Objectives Competences
To review and apply the most important mathematical techniques, both numerical and analytical, used in the solution of typical algebraic and differential equations that occur in chemical engineering problems.

Contents
Topic Sub-topic
1) Brief summary of the analytical techniques of resolution of algebraic equations and differentials.
2) Numerical methods of resolution of algebraic equations and systems of algebraic equations. Linear and nonlinear systems.
3) Resolution of Ordinary Differential Equations. Stability and Robustness. Explicit methods of resolution: Euler, Runge-Kutta. Predictor-corrector method, etc. Implicit resolution methods of ODE's resolution.
4) Resolution of Partial Differential Equations. Elliptic, Parabolic and Hyperbolic PDE’s. Method of Jacobi, Gauss Seidel, SOR. Methods re relaxation and of MultiGrid.
