Attention: The Interuniversity Council of Catalonia has decided to extend the exceptional period for the Catalan university system until the end of the 2021-22 academic year. This means that the URV can make changes to the way it teaches and assesses its courses to adapt them to current circumstances and the indications of the health authorities. If any such changes are necessary, they will be communicated via the Moodle area of each subject.

To find out how your course will be taught, we recommend that you read the section "TEACHING FOR THE 2021-22 ACADEMIC YEAR ADAPTED TO COVID"

Welcome

The restoration of university studies in Tarragona took place in October 1971, with the start of the studies of Chemistry, along with those of Philosophy and Letters. On October 24, 1983, with the Law 14/1983, the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of Tarragona was created, within the University of Barcelona. Law 36/1991 of the Parliament of Catalonia for the creation of the Rovira i Virgili University and the Statutes of the University give it the current name of the Faculty of Chemistry of Tarragona.

From the 2009-2010 academic year, and substituting for the old degrees, the Faculty of Chemistry teaches Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology degrees. The Degree of Chemistry offers 90 new entry places (60 for the degree in Catalan and 30 for the degree taught in English) and the degree of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology that offers 45 places of new entry. The 2014-2015 course enabled the double degree in Biotechnology and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the 2017-2018 course enabled the Degree of Chemistry taught in English. This year, for the double degree 15 new entrances are offered and 30 places of the 90 totals that are offered for the Degree of Chemistry are reserved.

For the degree of Chemistry, the 2020-2021 cut-off grade in first assignment has been 9.216, in the degree of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology it has been 11.687, for the double degree in Biotechnology and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the grade note has 12.768  state and for the degree in Chemistry taught in English it has been 6.926.

During the 2021-2022 course, the following master's degrees will also be taught as an official title: Synthesis, Catalysis and Molecular Design (20 places), Nutrition and Metabolism (60 places), Applied Chromatographic Techniques (25 places) and Genetics, Physics and Forensic Chemistry (20 places). As a novelty this year, the Erasmus Mundus Interuniversity Master in Sustainable Catalysis (SuCat) will begin, with 20 new places. And as an own qualified degree will be taught the Master in Tools for professional development in the industry (20 places) as a novelty of the course 2021-2022 the Diploma of Postgraduate in Cosmetic Industry and Dermopharmacy (20 places). Doctorate studies are also taught.
