General description and relevant information | The subject focuses on the thermodynamics more directly related to the design of separation and/or reaction units . The main educational objectives are: Estimate the thermodynamic properties of pure substances and mixtures. To characterize a multiphasic or reactive system in equilibrium based on the state functions entropy and free energy. Generate and interpret the phase diagrams of pure substances and mixtures with multiple components. Determine the conditions of chemical equilibrium in homogeneous and heterogeneous reactive systems. Apply the previous concepts to the design of chemical processes. | |||||||||||||||||
