General description and relevant information |
The main goal of this course is to provide students with intensive oral practice on a variety of formats and purposes. This course will also give students the skills they need to give successful oral presentations in an academic context. In seminar, students will learn how to speak and deliver presentations in front of an audience, how to structure and rehearse their presentations, how to speak from notes and use their voice effectively, how to use body language and maintain eye contact, how to create and use visual aids for Powerpoint, Prezzi and Canvas presentations, and how to deal with nerves and overcome problems when speaking in English to an audience. The course requires all students to prepare team presentations on topics of their choice, as well as individual presentations on academic topics. |
