General description and relevant information |
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Industrial hygiene is a discipline whose aim is to prevent the appearance of occupational illnesses by acting on the work environment. In this area of specialisation, the emphasis is on the identification of possible chemical, biological and physical pollutants (vibration, radiation and thermal dusts), which may be present in the workplace, in order to subsequently be able to estimate the magnitude of exposure and compare it with the legal standards that set the maximum admissible levels of exposure in order to prioritise preventive action and to establish programmes for monitoring and controlling occupational exposure to these agents. |
