General description and relevant information The objective of the class is to look at the use of nanostructured surfaces for a range of applications. The course will start with an overview of nanotechnology, identifying important breakthroughs, before looking in more specific detail at areas ranging from nanoparticles and their applications in catalysis, therapeutics, plasmonics and imaging; carbon nanotubes and their applications in electronics, sensors, catalysis and memory storage; tools for characterisation on a nanoscale as well as looking at nanomaterials and their use for production and storage of energy, as well as discussing the potential nanotoxilogical impact of nanosized stuctures. The classes will be supported by movies, animations and practical demonstrations.
In this subject you only have the right to make the exam, because the degree you are studying is going to be extinguished. You have to take a look the timetable of the subject to know the exam's date.
