La singularitat d’un determinat sistema estructural pot ser donada per dues circumstàncies: per la singularitat del treball mecànic del seu material resistent, o per la singularitat del context arquitectònic i constructiu del qual forma part.
Amdues singularitats es posen en relació amb les intervencions sobre el patrimoni arquitectònic.
