This course tries to help students to understand how a foreign language is acquired in a classroom setting, and how it can be taught. The course will apply theory to practice and will offer a wide range of methodological approaches as well as nowadays best known and most widely used ELT books in primaria, ESO and batxillerat (Macmillan Heinemann ELT). The student will be asked to create his/her own teaching materials for their future teaching situations, as well as use Moodle (the URV's learning environment) on a regular basis. | |||
To offer a critical survey of research on the acquisition of English as a second and foreign language and how these findings can be applied to classroom language teaching. At the end of the course students should have acquired: - a scientific perspective on what learning an additional language entails - the relevant skills to analyse the output produced by second language learners - and knowledge and skills in order to have an informed critical opinion on issues related to language learning and language planning |
