General description and relevant information This course introduces the student into Commonwealth Studies and more especifically into New Literatures written in English. Attention is paid to the literatures of various African and Caribbean countries and the literature of India. Lectures and powerpoint presentations introduce the characteristics of each one of these literatures, the most important authors, and the most relevant works. Likewise, the main literary trends in Third World Literature and post-colonial theories are studied. Finally, the characteristics which are shared by these literatures are pointed out and discussed.
Because of the termination of the course you are studying, this subject is driven by tutorship (except ETSE's degrees). For more information, read the professor's meeting timetable.
