This course introduces the student into Commonwealth Studies and more especifically into New Literatures written in English. Attention is paid to the literatures of various African and Caribbean countries and the literature of India. Lectures and powerpoint presentations introduce the characteristics of each one of these literatures, the most important authors, and the most relevant works. Likewise, the main literary trends in Third World Literature and post-colonial theories are studied. Finally, the characteristics which are shared by these literatures are pointed out and discussed.In this subject you only have the right to make the exam, because the degree
you are studying is going to be extinguished. You have to take a look the timetable of the subject to know the
exam's date. If you need an extraordinary exam session, you have to enrol for this, presenting an
application to the secretariat of your campus or faculty. |
