Romanticism. | The first module will focus on analysing literary works in historical and sociocultural context. We will have a look at Romanticism. Romanticism challenged the Enlightenment ideals of reason, order and balance and privileged the imagination, freedom of spirit and subjective experience. Main authors: William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, John Keats, William Blake, Mary Shelley. |
Literary Utopia and Dystopia. | The second module will centre on one literary genre and its development. We will learn about literary utopia and dystopia. Main texts: George Orwell "Nineteen Eighty-Four", Margaret Atwood "The Handmaid’s Tale". We will also focus on Young Adult Dystopia |
