SECOND TERM
Romanticism.	The first module will focus on analysing literary works in historical and sociocultural context. We will have a look at Romanticism. Romanticism challenged the Enlightenment ideals of reason, order and balance and privileged the imagination, freedom of spirit and subjective experience. Main authors: poetry: William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Blake, John Keats, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron. novel: Mary Shelley "Frankenstein"
Contemporary literature	The second module will centre on contemporary literature. Main texts: Margaret Atwood "The Handmaid’s Tale", Peter Shaffer "Equus"
